About Paul Wetzel
I am an innovative and dynamic B2B/B2B2C Product Leader recognized for driving tangible and dramatic revenue and portfolio growth for companies committed to a product model. I am known for creating a compelling vision, product innovation, and a collaborative team environment driving and managing the full product lifecycle for small to global SaaS companies.
I have proven expertise with "inside out" modern agile development topics for both small and larger-scale shops including product role definition, design of scrum teams, release cadence and management, prioritization methodologies, and backlog and roadmap management. This of course must always be coupled tightly with further expertise in leading "outside in" disciplines such as market strategy, Voice of Customer, user persona development, competitive intelligence, Product-Market Fit, build/buy/partner analysis, pricing models, etc.
I have led the creation of compelling consumer and staff experiences and high performing product teams for growth-stage companies serving Financial Services, Travel, Healthcare, CPG, and eCommerce and I have experience with both 0-1 and 1-2 product progressions. I've been a product team of one (multiple times). I've grown product teams to as large as 75 people and everything in between. Companies I've helped grow range from $2M ARR to over $500M including companies that are/were pre series A startup, series B+ startup, PE backed private, public, and multiple aquisitions by strategics. Acheived growth of $12M to over $100M, $15M to $25M, $18M to $40M, $400M to $500M.
My DNA takes me to the intersection of business, technology, and the customer where I build high performing teams delivering tangible value through a product model.
I enjoy life with my wife and our two boys. I love to bike (mountain and fat), cook, sail (I'm a certified skipper from a work abroad stint in Australia), downhill ski, practice yoga, and am into biohacking for wellness and longevity. I was an exchange student for a year in Costa Rica as well as 6 months in Japan. I love to travel, explore, and learn new things through a growth mindset.
